This style of embroidery is commonly known and is popular across all ethnographic areas of Gjirokastra. It is an ancient embroidery technique between certain sorts of upholstery and fur wool rugs and carpets, which is used to decorate pillows, runner rugs, aprons, and artworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The process of embroidery with a tapestry needle goes through the following steps: First, the model to be embroidered is painted (in colors), then a frame (4 cm larger than the contours of the drawing) is prepared. The frame is wrapped with canvas and the pattern is then reproduced onto the canvas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This embroidery is applied onto the back of the pillow, runner rug, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An effective application of this process requires that the embroidery complies with all the drawing details. The fluff thickness depends on the type of needle (age) to be used. When the fluff thickness should be even smaller, the embroidery can be \u201ctrimmed\u201d.
