Saraçi (leathercraftsman) deals with the artisanal manufacturing of equipment for horses, saddles, headstalls, bridles, etc. However, following the change of lifestyle and reality, due to the reduced number of horses, leathercraft has adapted itself and makes also hunting supplies, and agricultural and farming equipment.

Making the horse saddle goes through several processes: Designing the pattern as per the dimensions, cutting the leather, cutting the parts of the saddle pad (Muslin cloth), stitching the elements by hand and machine using strong twine string, appropriate fitting of all pieces together.

Making the of the horse bridle and headgear (cheek straps) involves two types of elements for draught/workhorse and saddle horse. The process involves pattern designing based on the animal dimensions and to suit the customer’s pattern, cutting of the leather according to the preset shape, and assembly of all pieces with tacks and stitches.

Making the horse pulling carriage kit. The process starts with pattern designing as per the dimensions, cutting and assembly, making the collar and textile wrap, making the saddle pad and textile wrap fitting snugly around the horse neck, making the saddle as described above together with the girth, making the bethica (manure catcher bag).

Hunting kit/supplies: The process starts with the thick leather hunting holster and holds 33 rounds of shotgun ammunition, a leather hunting backpack (hejbe) with outer textile grids, and the double barrel gun case which is leather made and adjusted as per the gun dimensions, hook-and-loop or stretchy cuff ankle closures.

For convenience and precise molding, the leather must be worked wet in all cases.
