The craft of woodwork application in Shkodra originated from the Artistic Handicraft Enterprise of this city, since the 60s. There are several types of woodwork applications and they are used in home decor and household furniture, especially to those decorating their houses.

Application of metal craft embellishment/decoration on woodworks. This type is realized by applying copper, aluminum, brass embellishments on the peshtaf (small decorated box for jewelry), frames, paintings, etc. There are several types of metal embellishment applications: Metal hinge application (Copper or aluminium metal plate thinned out to less than 1 mm). Once the required thinness is reached, metal embellishments are applied and then assembled on the predetermined item. Such items will be shaped using different wood carving chisels by working according to the drawing prepared in advance. Embellishments are applied by hitting the wood chisel, while metal hinges are placed on a rubber piece. The item to be applied is initially worked with woodworking tools. After cutting the groove, zigzag line strands are adjusted on the item and fixed on the woodwork piece. Next, the item is assembled, lacquered and paint colored according to the preferred pattern. Finally, after the lacquer has been applied, the pieces are put in place and stuck.

Application of straw strips on woodworks. Even in this case, the item is prepared in advance. After it is paint colored and an wood glue (adhesive for wood) layered, a rye straw layer is applied. The straw strip is selected, bleached, colored with oxygenated water and ammonia according to a stencil. Plant colors such as walnuts, ash, etc. can also be used. The application involves a small razor knife cutting the straw strands in a rhombus shape to make appropriate decorations.

Application of veneer (thin sheet of about 0.5-1 mm walnut wood) on woodworks. This type concerns two modes of applications: a) Application of 06 m/m veneer on the wooden item where decorations are drawn according to a stencil and fixed on the item with vinovil (glue). Next, they are carved using a zgubje (wood carving tool). b) Veneer inset or recess (veneer wire decoration). Two sheets of colored veneer are extended one over the other, while at the same time cutting both with a razor knife according to the drawing of the first sheet, thereby making two identical decorations. The first sheet already cut decoration is exactly fixed on the second sheet. Hence, it is a very precise assembly since their drawing is made according to a stencil.
